Even Microsoft thinks pets are the next big idea...
According to Microsoft, businesses related to pets are one of the fastest growing sectors for entrepreneurs:
To tap into the market, imagine human or child-care needs that can migrate. Pet obesity, for instance, is a growing problem. Health and life insurance policies for pets are likewise skyrocketing.
Nice of them to notice pet insurance but I wouldn't recommend anyone try to get into it - it's so much harder than I ever imagined.
Have any of you recently started a pet-related business? What prompted you to do it and what challenges are you facing? Perhaps our readers can help your business.

Sounds like a great topic for discussion! I will put out that same question and send some readers over here! :)
For myself, (before blogging).. my pet related business reflected just some online activities .. buying and selling pet related products, and trying to sell them in my online store and Ebay (with some other junk in my basement). It all started because I noticed that my website that I had strictly for our pet pictures .. brought about 5 times as much traffic as my business and personal sites did.
Over about 8 months .. I considered my sales level a partial success, matched by sales of completely different sublimation products .. but the profits eaten up by the cost of google adwords, overture and other online advertising.
I gave that up when I broke even .. took a break .. and thought I may as well just give away all that I had accumulated .. information that is - and then PetLvr.com - [The Blog] was created!
Fortunately, I haven't quit my day job yet :D
