MSN Money - Should you buy pet insurance?

MSN Money has a great article that looks at the pros and cons of pet health insurance from a financial product perspective. It's one of the few articles that actually doesn't use the usual pet insurance article format that goes like this:

  • cute title, something like "So-and-so goes to the dogs... and cats" or "Don't let pet costs hound you"
  • emotional story about person who has a beloved pet get sick and then gets better with pet insurance
  • mention of one product out there
  • summary that wraps around to the title "so we should all go to the dogs... and cats health insurance" or "so there's no need to let pet veterinary costs hound you with pet insurance."

PS. The article mentions Premier Pet Insurance, which was a great pet insurance company until its underwriter pulled out and its policies all went over to the Hartville Group, aka Petshealth Care Plan.
